  • Tam Tui - "Spring Kicks" ("spring" as in elastic or flexible) - is a basic Northern Shaolin kung fu form that emphasizes kicking and punching. The Tam Tui form, also known as the Tam-family kicking form, is taught as a beginning Northern Shaolin kung fu class that leads to the intermediate and two-person Northern Shaolin kung fu forms.
Class Times: Tues. & Fri. 7:30 - 8:30 pm

  • Traditional Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan is the elegant Tai Chi style that combines soft and slow movement. Despite its soft movement, Yang style Tai Chi contains all of the elements of a powerful martial art and specializes in the neutralization of an attack by the turning of the waist. Based on the theory of the Yin and Yang opposites, for the practitioner, Yang style Ta Chi makes an excellent complementary activity to hard or external martial arts or other intense physical activity. Benefits of Tai Chi include: stillness of mind and relaxation, improved circulation, improved balance and coordination, increased energy, flexibility, and strength.
Class times: Wed. & Sat. 6:30 - 7:30 pm

  • Traditional Chen Style Tai-Chi is the original tai-chi style and is closer to its martial origin than other tai-chi styles. Unlike the traditional Yang style form with which most people are familiar, Chen style combines hard and soft with fast and slow movement, based on the theory of complementary opposites - the Yin and Yang.  Benefits of tai-chi include: stillness of mind and relaxation, improved circulation, improved balance and coordination, increased energy, flexibility, and strength.
Class times: Tues. & Fri. 6:30 - 7:30 pm

Classes are affordable and private lessons are available. Join us at our new location on Cambridge Street in Cambridge as we celebrate our 25th year in the Boston area - see http://www.jiannshyongkungfu.com/ - or call Dr. Kay-Chi Leung at (617) 497-4459.

As taught at The American Jiann Shyong Kung Fu Center, the purpose of traditional Chinese martial arts exercises is to strengthen the body, for self-defense, bring about peace of mind and relaxation, help circulation, and balance the internal energy (Chi) to help the practitioner attain longevity.
