Leading online travel company is seeking an experienced MS SQL Server 2000/2005 DBA.
Key areas of responsibility:
The primary responsibility of a MS SQL Server 2000/2005 DBA
is to provide system and database administration to support our production environment. These duties include resolving problems and answering questions related to the database and platform environment, performance testing and tuning, capacity planning and reporting, implementation of backup and recovery plans and develops and analyzes SQL code from programming requirements.
Technical Skills:
Essential:
A thorough understanding of Microsoft SQL 2000/2005 (enterprise and standard editions) and Windows 2000/2003 Server in a cluster configuration.
A strong understanding of MS SQL 2000/2005 security, MS SQL 2000/2005 performance monitoring and optimization techniques, indexes, constraints, transactions, file groups, stored procedures, full text searching, triggers, cursors, locking, and queue tuning.
The ability to plan, test and implement the safe modification of a production database environment during software upgrade cycles.
A strong understanding of MS SQL 2000/2005 backup and disaster recovery techniques.
Strong understanding of storage technologies including RAID, SAN's, etc.
Strong understanding of database replication.
Knowledge of Web Technologies (XML or HTML).
Solid experience with source code control tools.

Preferred Background:
Minimum 3 years database administration, database design and database development experience with SQL Server in an on-line service environment.
