Software Engineers (0-5 years), Java - Boston based Software Product Co. (Portfolio Analytics) Small division of a global Financial Services Software Company

Our long-time software client is currently seeking multiple talented and articulate Software Engineers to add to their small core development team in Downtown Boston. This is a small autonomous product division of a much larger global Financial Services Software Company. We have a great relationship with the decision makers in this division and have placed numerous top-notch software engineers with them over the past two years. Company has LOTS of new projects that are in the pipe-line plenty of new features and enhancements that need to be made to their existing open platform application. Company was originally funded by a top-tier venture capital firm and launched their first product 5 years ago.

Company's existing software product is a quantitative research platform that allows their clients to integrate their existing datasets and analytical tools while consolidating the workflow within a single software application. The product provides robust alpha research, backtesting, and portfolio construction capabilities, which helps companies to develop and manage equity strategies that meet their performance and risk requirements. This software is currently being used by an impressive number of the *Worlds* largest investment and quantitative fund managers.

Platform is a high performance, distributed client/server application built in Java running exclusively on Windows. About 90% of the application is written in Java with about 10% in C native to Windows. Platform includes a 'computing node'
application for intensive data crunching and sorting and a rich, highly sophisticated GUI (Java, Swing) offers lots of advanced features to the user. MySQL and 'Time Series' for backend databases - Any relational database (Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL) experience is fine, even if only academic related.

Lots of very interesting fundamental computer science problems to solve. New sw engs coming in will focus primarily on designing and developing NEW product features and enhancements, web integration (massively paralleled application servers, fault tolerant, high-performance, high-throughput, etc.) work on a brand NEW product line that is currently in stealth mode. Proficient Java skills are required, along with Experience with some kind of scripting language (Perl, Python, Ruby, Shell, etc.).

Location: Downtown Boston.
Compensation: Base salary is highly competitive and negotiable (60-80k), package will also include cash bonus (an additional 5-10k).
