Position: Truck Load Sales Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and grow mutually beneficial truckload client relationships that deliver positive results. The Truck Load Sales Manager works within a specific geographic area to develop, manage and enhance relationships with clients. Additionally, the Truck Load Sales Manager is accountable to provide on-going, critical market insight to their team. The Truck Load Sales Manager also works with their leader and the Market Manager to create and execute TL specific geographic plans that maximize asset utilization and deliver a superior client experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop geographic specific plans according to clients' needs and abilities that are commensurate with the line of business needs.
2. Balance account relationships and internal capabilities to improve asset utilization, deliver an improved client experience and improve network balance.
3. Develop specific geographic expertise to generate the right revenue at the right time in the right place to balance and expand our network.
4. Establish relationships with clients and industry experts to maintain a pulse on the competitive landscape of the market to be most effective in a selling environment.
5. Drive key factor performance results (network value, revenue, price increases and margin improvement).
6. Interface with functional units to include Market Managers, Pricing, Customer Service and Service Planners, corporate leadership, Operations and suppliers to ensure successful execution of the service offerings to clients.
7. Maintain complete knowledge of client base in your assigned geographic area, and work to maximize profitability by balancing client mix based on aggregate network value.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

1. At least five years proven transportation sales experience required.
2. Business Acumen - Effectively manages revenue and cost. Anticipates client and market opportunities and responds appropriately.
3. Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
4. Strong communication skills both oral and written.
5. Effective selling techniques including phone and electronic communication.
6. Strong geographical knowledge (of competition, shippers/receivers, and economic trends) preferred.
7. Decision Making - Collects the required data to balance long term and short-term objectives when making decisions.
